Real Estate Agents Offer Extra Services for Seniors

A new breed of real estate agent has emerged to help seniors do more than just sell their homes. When Gerry Biller, 85, moves into a retirement home next month, it will be with the added assistance of Barry Lebow and Monica Black.

Lebow is a master accredited senior agent — one of few who help connect seniors with various services they will need to make a successful move, including lawyers, tax specialists, auctioneers and even professional organizers.

Lebow brought in Black, a "transition specialist," to help Biller decide what to take with her when she moves. As people continue to live longer, and seniors look to smaller homes as they age, the market for their services is expanding.

"The agent today has to have a lot more knowledge to help a family through a transition," Lebow told CBC News.
